This would have to be one of my favourite nights out so far this season. Aided by the friendly atmosphere, attentive staff and my inherent love for board games.
The launch party for Coin Laundry was a complete success. The spaced out venue with two floors and perfectly positioned seating is not only inviting but also comforting. I’m not quite sure what it is but Coin Laundry has a special touch that makes you feel at ease.
Once you enter you’ll find the eye-catching bar, and if you look really hard you’ll even spot a few goodies in glass jars (flying saucers…). This spacious place in Exmouth is a true gem and perfectly sitting on the corner of the road. Exmouth Market seems like the best place to get your night started.
The 70s theme worked wonders for the event with quirky concocted cocktails, canapé tasters of their menu and dozens of board games that can elevate any atmosphere. While the white chocolate and raspberry Bellini made its rounds (created by their chef, Nick), and people dug into their refreshing prawn bites with a dusting of sumac to give it a light taste, I headed downstairs. The pinball machine was a definite win but my eyes were on the Connect 4, one of the rare games I play (I only play games I’m great at). Unfortunately my friend managed to put up a good fight. All the more reason to practise I guess.
Another drink I savoured was the minty dessert cocktail made with creme de cacao, creme de menthe and my favourite, gin! This was accompanied with dark chocolate profiteroles with dashings of ginger on top. Combining all the great things to eat, drink and play, the evening at Coin Laundry was one that involved a lot of laughter, creative cocktails and delicious food.
P.s. The bacon popcorn, and their pineapple jelly and breaded cheese was so good that I didn’t want to mention it… more for me!
