Cocktails in the City is soon approaching and last week I was given a sneak preview of what the long-awaited event will entail. With bars from all over London, The Hoxton Hotel welcomed a number of people to a fun game of what felt like speed-dating with beverages.
We got to try some of the best gins, whiskeys and tequila-based cocktails- which means there’s even more to look forward to at the actual event in March. Kicking things off with a few bites to eat (nachos are always a good way to my heart) and browsing various rooms where different brands set-up shop for the night, we had sixty seconds in each taster and talk. Brands showcasing their artful cocktails on the day were Coq d’Argent, Golden Square, Johnny Johns, Cahoots and Johnny Walker among many others.
On the night there were a few drinks that stood out and one of my favourites was the delicious cocktail by Cahoots. Gin will always be a favourite with me, but if Cahoots are going to up their game even more at Cocktails in the City then I’m won over. The cocktail on the day was a pretty pink colour with a delicious foamed top and with a mix of carrots and pink apricots. I can still remember how it tasted.
Another interesting drink on the day was Johnny Jones’ gin, which has five times the calcium of milk… if ever there was an excuse to drink even more gin. The soft citrus in their gin is accentuated and instead of sugar, they’ve used red apple syrup, lemon juice and a kind of fermenting tart-like taste to bring an autumnal flavour to a drink that is normally associated with summer concoctions.
During the Cocktails in the City event at London’s One Mayfair you’ll find world-renowned bars taking over all four floors between the 10th – 12th March. Imagine a grand takeover of the venue’s sweeping hall and newly launched international bars floor, plus a rooftop snug perfect for BBQs and a bar. Over 3000 guests will explore everything that is imaginative and creative about the world of alcohol. You can experience innovative and delicious cocktails on the day from around twenty bars from London, Paris, Amsterdam and Copenhagen. If you want to get international while in the UK, make your way to its most thriving city this March for pure indulgence in the simplicity, the exotic and everything original about cocktails.
This is going to be an interactive experience with unusual and rare ingredients, and bars showcasing local concept cocktails. There will also be a feasting table in the Grand Hall to make sure you get to experience a wide variety of flavours from this highly anticipated event.
