Above The Clouds

As we were flying over Cairo I opened the window shutters and was greeted by something magnificent.

I assumed we were flying over the ocean and expected water but in reality what I was an insanely gorgeous terrain of what looks like smooth sand, gathered sand.

There were flat surfaces and then raised surfaces that looked like big waves that have somehow been frozen.

The general characteristics of sand and water collided in my mind. Acres and acres of desert lay beneath me. Quite far down, but it’s there and it’s untouched- it brought a smile.

I want to go to Cairo!
